Stephen Terrett, PhD is director and senior lecturer at the British Law Centre’s Diploma Program, based at the University of Warsaw and taught by lecturers from the University of Cambridge and Juris Angliae Scientia. He also teaches vocational subjects at the Polish National School for Judges and Prosecutors, inter alia by giving lectures on the English legal system, commercial law and bankruptcy law for judges and prosecutors of the first and second instance. Prior to joining the SSW team, Dr. Stephen Terrett was a legal advisor to a number of international law firms in Warsaw. He also worked in the Polish Constitutional Tribunal.

Selected projects

  • Successfully challenged the jurisdiction of the English High Court in a case in which one of SSW’s clients was to be sued for many millions of dollars. He subsequently negotiated an agreement with the claimant on terms very favorable to SSW’s client.
  • Advising on numerous transactions, including on the opening of a new airport in Warsaw, on matters relating to the processing of passengers etc.
  • Advising on a number of corporate and employment–related matters (including dismissal of board members) surrounding the restructuring of a leading trading company
  • Advising on matters relating to EU competition law and English contract law in relation to an important English-Polish agreement for the delivery of linguistic and translation services
