Martin is a Senior Counsel in SSW’s M&A and Energy & Infrastructure teams.
Martin is an English qualified corporate energy & infrastructure lawyer. He has a track record of advising international corporates, trading houses and funds on cross-border M&A, project development, competitive tenders, long-term commercial and technical agreements, and regulatory matters with a focus on energy, infrastructure and regulated assets.
Martin has advised on transactions across the value chain for onshore and offshore renewables, nuclear power, conventional power and LNG, along with power transmission, interconnectors, transport infrastructure and emerging technologies (including carbon capture & storage and hydrogen).
Martin completed a number of secondments, including to:
- the Infrastructure Investment Fund (IIF), managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where Martin served as acting Executive Director and executed M&A deals for IIF and its various portfolio companies in Europe;
- Sumitomo Corporation’s legal team in Tokyo where Martin focused on cross-border M&A, along with EPC and IPP/IWPP tenders across EMEA;
- InterGen, where Martin advised on finance, commercial and technical agreements for its UK and Australian entities in relation to its CCGT assets;
- Cheniere, where Martin advised on LNG sale and purchase agreements, including long term supply agreements, shipping, and trading.
Martin draws on his extensive international experience in private practice and numerous in-house roles to provide commercial advice, and helps clients navigate complex and fast-paced transactions in challenging regulatory environments.
