SSW Pragmatic Solutions advised Orlen Południe S.A. on a modern oil pressing plant for the production of biofuels valued at approx. PLN 850 million

SSW Pragmatic Solutions advised and represented Orlen Południe S.A. in negotiations of an EPC contract for the construction of Poland’s largest modern oil pressing plant in Kętrzyn, valued at approximately PLN 850 million. The oil will be used in the facilities of the Orlen Group to produce low-emission biofuels.

The plant will process 500,000 tonnes of rapeseed per year (about 1/7 of the domestic production of this resource) and produce 200,000 tonnes of oil. The main recipient of oil will be Orlen Południe S.A., which produces biodiesel at its plant in Trzebinia.

In addition to the pressing plant itself, the complex will include technological nodes related to the collection of feedstock and dispatching of products, storage of feedstock and products, pressing and extraction, production of technological steam and sewage treatment, as well as a railway siding. The investment is part of the Orlen Group’s strategy for the development of biofuels in Poland. The contractor building the plant is a consortium of companies: Polimex Mostostal S.A. and AB Industry S.A.

SSW’s legal services included comprehensive support for Orlen Południe S.A. during the tender procedure and the preparation of a draft contract and negotiations with bidders of the EPC contract for the design and construction of the pressing plant.
