Mikio Kobayashi is an English law qualified solicitor. He is Head of the Japan Desk.

Previously, he was an associate at a renowned international law firm in their Tokyo office for 7 years. He was a member of the Project Development and Finance team specializing in project development and financing as well as LNG sale and purchase arrangements there. Prior to that Mikio worked at a law firm with over a 100-year history. He was based in the Tokyo branch as part of their Energy Projects team working on large-scale LNG projects. He started his career in London at a law firm with over 200-year history.

Mikio has experience advising both Japanese and other international clients. He completed 12-month client secondments in Tokyo at both the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and JERA. He also spent time working out of Sydney and Singapore offices of a renowned international law firm.

Mikio has a BSc in Economics and Politics from the University of Bristol and an MA in War Studies from King’s College London. He completed both his GDL and LPC at BPP Law School in London.
