SSW and BPCC organise a meeting titled “One Year to GDPR – New Approach to Personal Data Protection”

SSW Spaczyński, Szczepaniak & Partners and the British Polish Chamber of Commerce have the honour of inviting you to a meeting titled “One Year to GDPR – New Approach to Personal Data Protection” to be held on 25 May 2017 at the British Embassy in Warsaw. The speakers will include the representatives of the Polish Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (GIODO) and the Ministry of Digital Affairs.

The new regulations will be discussed by:

  • Paweł MakowskiCounsel to the Polish Inspector General for Personal Data Protection (GIODO)
  • Dr Maciej Kawecki Policy Adviser in the Ministry of Digital Affairs which coordinates the drafting of the new Polish legislation on personal data protection,
  • Joanna Tomaszewska Ph.D. – Attorney at Law, Partner in Spaczyński, Szczepaniak & Partners (SSW) law firm, responsible for the personal data protection practice

New EU regulations on personal data protection (GDPR) will apply as of 25 May 2018.

The objective of the regulation is, on one hand, to align the laws within the EU and adapt them for digital environment of personal data processing, and, on the other, to strengthen the EU citizens’ data protection.

The current transition period should be used for getting ready for the new requirements so as to avoid heavy financial penalties envisaged by the new regulations.
