On 9-10 November, in Brussels, the Europe Data Protection Congress , i.e. the annual European meeting of data protection experts, was held under the auspices of the International Privacy Professionals Association (IAPP).
This year, the conference focused on the new EU regulations introduced by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which are to come into effect across the European Union as of 25 May 2018. The conference panels were specifically dedicated to the discussion of the effects of the new regulation for the business, and the presentation of the practical aspects of the implementation in the entire European Union. The Congress was attended by Joanna Tomaszewska Ph.D., Legal Advisor and SSW Partner, who is responsible for the data protection practice, and by Joanna Wieczorek, Manager of the French Desk.
