Delivering offshore wind projects: Managing complexity, preventing disputes

Offshore wind projects bring together multiple contractors, interconnected workstreams and significant investment. Clear contracts and effective risk management are essential to keeping delivery on track –and preventing disagreements from escalating into disputes.

On 16 November, SSW will take part in the Warsaw roundtable “Delivering resilient offshore projects: Practical lessons in risk management and execution”.

Dr Hubert Wysoczański will join the panel, with Martin Bittner also attending on behalf of SSW. Prof. Marcin Asłanowicz will deliver the welcome remarks in his capacity as President of the Arbitration Court at the Polish Confederation Lewiatan.

Drawing on Poland’s first phase of offshore wind development and experience from other jurisdictions, the discussion will explore how contracting strategies, the management of interface risks and the use of FIDIC standard forms can support project delivery. It will also consider how to address disagreements early and manage disputes effectively when they arise.

Hubert will contribute alongside Ulrike Gantenberg (Gantenberg Dispute Experts), Tim McGoldrick (Diales), dr Christian Knütel (Hogan Lovells Cadwalader), dr Marcin Lolik (Orlen Neptun) and Tomasz Pleskot (Orsted Poland). Karl Pörnbacher (Hogan Lovells Cadwalader) will moderate the discussion.

For developers, investors and contractors, these questions have direct commercial implications: protecting schedules, controlling costs and preserving working relationships throughout a project’s lifecycle.

SSW is joining Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, the Polish Chamber of Commerce, the Polish Confederation Lewiatan, the Polish Arbitration Association and the German Arbitration Institute (DIS) in bringing this discussion together.
